Roth Ironman E-mail
Alastair Moffat set a PB of 10h 21m in Germany last weekend Splits:
1h 16m swim
5h 23m bike
3h 35m run

50 mins quicker than my debut ironman (Austria 2008) so a solid race which I was pleased with given restricted training caused by starting a new job in April (only one trip to the lake this year so 3.5k felt a long way even in a nice straight canal).

I paced the bike sensibly averaging 33kph thinking I would be able to push the marathon.  Bike course is known to be fast but was undulating with a couple of steep sections where enormous crowd support urged riders on in tour de france style. First 10k of the run was sub 45 mins but it deteriorated after that and I had to dig deep to beat my sub 10.30 target.

123rd in 40-45 age group of over 600.

Roth lived up to it's billing as an iconic race, very efficiently organised and extremely well supported.
