Sam & Cath win at Tonbridge!

May Bank Holiday saw the return of the very popular Tonbridge Triathlon. The event, now in its twenty fourth year, is organised by Tonbridge Lions Club and involves swimming in Tonbridge School's pool, a 'sporting' cycle through beautiful Kent countryside up Plaxtol hill, down Carter's hill and a run round Tonbridge School sports ground, culminating on the renowned running track.

Almost 500 athletes were drawn from all over the UK and Europe, competing over two distances; the Standard (800 metre swim, 50k cycle and 10k run) and Sprint (400 metre swim, 25k cycle and 5k run). The Standard distance male winner Sam Begg of 7Oaks Tri Club completed the course in 2hr.18min.57secs. The Standard distance female winner Catherine Linney also from 7Oaks Tri Club finished in 2hr.37min.49secs. The winning male in the Sprint distance Mark Bruce took 1hr.05min.36secs and the winning Sprint female Hannah Ewens completed in 1hr.21min.46secs.
