Leeds Castle Triathlon Report

It may be rightly billed as "the loveliest castle in the world" but as a group of 7oaks club members discovered at the weekend it has world's the muddiest moat. Allied to zero vision was the challenge of getting 350 competitors swimming under a castle arch - at least you could stand up if you needed to as long as you didnt mind the feel of a couple of hundred years of mud on your feet...

Having said this the race weekend, in its second year, was superbly marshalled and laid out with a fast bike on part of the Harietsham TT course and a challenging run in the picturesque grounds.
Five club members took part in the Standard on Sunday (Ben Bridges, Ben Stepney, Phil Abbott, Richard Evans, Stephen Searby) with 7oaks well represented toward the upper end of the table. Standard results here:

There were a further 5 members taking part in the Sprint event on the Saturday (Lawrie Proctor, Marcus Smith, John Bacon, Ness Gilmartin and, making a welcome return to racing, Leanne Sizer). Rumour has it that some members were also representing a team but detective work has so far not revealed anything.

Now lets go find a dredger for that moat...
