Ultra run race report
By Tim Roff
I ran my first ultra event this last weekend. The Pilgrim Challenge Ultra, 66 miles over 2 days. The route follows the North Downs Way from Farnham to Merstham, 33 undulating miles! You then run back the next day.
We were very lucky with the weather, warm with hardly any rain, and apart from a lot of mud in places, running conditions were good. It was well organised and there was a great sense of camaraderie between all runners.
I was very pleased that out of 200 entrants, I finished 15th on day one and 14th on day 2, coming 4th in my age group (40+) on both days.
As a first ultra experience I can definitely recommend it.
