East Grinstead Tri 2014

The speed merchants were out in force for the Club Sprint Championship on Sunday at East Grinstead.

The cold and very windy conditions added to the tension before the race, with much talk about what to wear on the bike.  However once we had had our group start in the warm pool most of us agreed it did not feel too cold out on the road but the gusting wind did make for some precarious riding.

Neil Harris was the first man home in the club coming a third overall and Cath Linney was the first club lady home and coming second overall in FV40.

Dyfi MTB Enduro 4/5/2014 – Charlie, Sally, Alan, and err Baz

A plan of devilish audacity, and cunning - a veritable schlieffen movement in its simplicity.

Swimming events are in the Diary

There are now lots of swimming events in the Club Diary, so have a browse and see if anything takes your fancy. There are events all the year round, and whether you want to test your swimming in a mass participation sea, lake (including a women only race at Dorney Lake) or river swim, with or without wetsuits and over distances from 750m to 5km, or in a Masters pool race with races from 50m to 1500m and age groups from 25-29 to 90+, there's bound to be something for you.

Neil Harris wins Tonbridge Tri

Conditions were almost perfect for the Tonbridge Triathlon on Monday. The club was out in force and many members bagging a PB.

In the Standard event Neil Harris took top spot with a comfortable margin despite having to stop on the bike course to retrieve his race number.  Richard Westover was a few minutes behind to take second place.  Our top lady was Cath Linney and the first FV40.

In the Sprint race Andrew Linney came second overall and our first lady in was Louisa Bryant.

Great performances from everyone.

‘Novice’ to ‘not too shabby’ in 1,825 days…tales from a wannabe swimmer Claire Hitchings

I am now a sub-12 minute 800m swimmer! It’s official!

Prompted by Neil Colvin to put trotters to keyboard, here’s the abridged ‘journey’ from clocking a 15:05 750m swim at the World Championships on the Gold Coast 5 years ago to a 800m PB last Sunday of 11:53.

At the Gold Coast, the medallists’ swim times were 11:39, 10:49 and 13:37 respectively. I was in awe.
