We would like to update you on plans for Lake Swimming at Haysden for this year.
After the tragic events at Leybourne last year, and subsequent requests from the Council regarding our procedures, it became clear we could no longer continue to run swimming at Haysden as we had done for many years.
Waiting in the pen ready to start, it was bitterly cold, blowing a gale as it always does up at Brands hatch and it started snowing! An interesting introduction to my first KK! At least pushing up the hills generated some heat, although I was envious of those spinning past me with compact chainsets. It was sunny on the long drag up into the Ashdown forest before turning into a fierce headwind for the return.
Route for Saturday is on the Cycling Facebook Page. Dave
We now have the British Triathlon permit for our event, a copy of the 2016 British Triathlon Competition Rules and some key rule changes highlighted which are applicable to our event. Please go the the Competitor Information section of 7Oaks Triathlon.
For those who don't know me, I have just taken over the role of club cycle rep from Tony Lamoury. They are difficult bike shoes to fill as we have a great history in the 7 Oaks Tri Club of excellent cycling but I thought I would do a quick update on where we are and a few thoughts on what we are planning. Dave Truman is organising the TT series and is also leading the new, slower Saturday ride so he and I will be working closely together on all things cycling related. There is a note from Dave below on the TT programme.

I ran my first ultra event this last weekend. The Pilgrim Challenge Ultra, 66 miles over 2 days. The route follows the North Downs Way from Farnham to Merstham, 33 undulating miles! You then run back the next day.
We were very lucky with the weather, warm with hardly any rain, and apart from a lot of mud in places, running conditions were good. It was well organised and there was a great sense of camaraderie between all runners.
Five 7oaks tri members made the journey to Rough Common near Canterbury to join 350 runners from the 18 Kent clubs on the muddy 6-mile course through Blean Woods. It was the last round of the series.
James Mason from SAC won the race and it was his 4th win in the 7 race series making him the 2015-16 Kent Fitness League Champion - the first Sevenoaks AC athlete to win the KFL for at least 15 years.
From next Saturday February 13th, there will be a second ride starting from Sevenoaks Post Office at 8:00am which will go at a slower pace than the current "intermediates" ride. The target pace will be somewhere around 21-23 kph (13-14mph) depending on the route. Duration around 2 hours. Anyone planning to join this ride should be confident to ride on the road for that duration at that average speed. That said, no-one will be left behind. Please keep an eye on the club cycling Facebook page for updates if the weather is especially bad or there are other alterations.
We received this request to help with a study into triathletes injury treatment choices - just a questionnaire, so please help if you can.
I am a fifth year student at the London School Of Osteopathy. I am writing to ask for your assistance as part of a research project that I am carrying out as part of a Bachelor’s level dissertation.
If you would like to assist me then please read on.
Swim coach Tom has drawn up the annual plan for 2016 for swimmers with the club. It should outline the aims and goals of the sessions and make us all better swimmers.

7oaks tri club is now registered to take part in this series!
The series will consist of 5 events from around the South East region, with 3 events needing to be completed to be in the running. The focus for 2016 changes from an individual to that of a club series, so more than ever it is about taking part and representing your local club rather than a few talented individuals dominating events.
Here are some members in action at the KFL Minnis Bay XC Race.
Andy having "fun".
Sally actually having real fun!
The fifth race in the Kent Fitness League Cross Country series took place in Meopham on Sunday December 20th, with a field of over 400 runners.
Sevenoaks AC managed to field a strong team of 36 runners including seven 7oaks tri members to take on the muddy two lap 5.5-mile course cross-country course, which features the famous “water splash” – especially deep this year after the recent rain!
