Our Training Standards
We welcome new members of all abilities, whether new to triathlon or experienced athletes. The youngest age at which children can join is 11, they must be in school Year 7 and must be accompanied by parents at training sessions if under the age of 16. We have bike rides to suit all abilities at the weekend, and run special rides for prospective members who are unsure of their fitness levels on a bike. Similarly, run sessions are available for all abilities. Our coached swimming sessions also cater for a wide range of ability, to ensure a safe environment, our club policy is that members should be able to swim 400 metres front crawl in around 10 minutes or less. If you’re not at this level yet we’ll be happy to recommend appropriate swimming classes from local providers. If you have any questions please contact the club secretary at

The early "fast" Sunday ride meets at Sevenoaks Post Office at 7.00 am and the pace can become quite rapid, especially approaching race season.

2009 Swim Stats |
These are the swim stats for the first half of the year. The stats are based on a total of 91 sessions. There were an additional 9 sessions where I do not have the swim details for; and there were three sessions (one Leisure Centre and two at Wally Hall) which were cancelled. Therefore in total there should have been stats for 103 sessions. Venue | Number of sessions | Total number of swimmers | Average number of swimmers per session | Highest and lowest numbers attending | Leisure Centre (Tuesday) | 23 | 452 | 19.6 | 29 / 12 | Walthamstow Hall (Wednesday) | 18 | 305 | 16.9 | 34 / 8 | Leisure Centre (Friday) | 24 | 417 | 17.4 | 25 / 10 | Sevenoaks School (Sunday) | 26 | 670 | 25.8 | 35 / 18 | | | | | | Total | 91 | 1844 | 20.3 | |
Of the 1844 swims recorded; 1159 were swims from annual members (62.9%), 629 from swim cards (34.1%), 26 were paid for in cash (1.4%) and 30 were free swims (1.6%). |

Tumble Turns |
I know a few people have been attempting to tumble turn recently with the forthcoming season fast approaching and wishing to improve their swim times for pool based triathlons. This video shows excellent examples of how to do it! Click here to see it. (This one here shows how no to do it!) |

Swim Lane Etiquette |

A few reminders on how to give yourself (and everyone else in your lane) the maximum space in which to swim your sets properly. Remember this is training, not racing! |

Thought the last clip was interesting? |

Who knows? But have a look at this one and spot the differences between good (oh, all right, superlative), and competent enough to scrub along. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2n6FRHh9UE&NR=1 Mike |

Drills |
Mike often advocates use of these drills in his sessions. So next time the swim set says choice of drill, try some of these. They can be seen at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-NE8_1OG3w&feature=related |
