April Fools Inter Club TT
2017 Inter Club Time Trial Series
The first event in the Inter Club Time Trial Series will be held on Saturday 1st April on the Sundridge Course starting at 9.00am. The details are in the club diary and in the “Upcoming Events” section on the Home page.
These events are free to club members. There are 22 Time Trials between April and September. Most of them are 10 miles and on Thursday evenings. You can ride a road or time trial bike. Just about any kit. We’d prefer you to wear some club kit if you can. Riders are set off at 1 minute intervals and timed to a finish. Points are awarded in two competitions - InterClub, every finisher scores points, the fastest score more points; Club male/female - again every finisher scores, but points are only allocated to 7OaksTri members. Everyone who rides contributes towards our club total in the InterClub competition. The more the better. The Bike in non-draft tri is essentially a time trial, so these events are really good training and great fun in themselves. If you take part, we ask that you also volunteer to marshal at one that we organise. This is in addition to your responsibilities to marshal at the club race. If you don’t want to ride you can still get involved at the start/finish or as a marshal.
Some guidelines for those taking part:
- Check the club website and Cycling Facebook page before setting out for cancellations. Road works or really bad weather caused one or two events to be cancelled last year.
- Arrive with plenty of time to spare. 45 minutes is advisable. You need to get signed on and warmed up. There is an upper rider limit for safety reasons.
- Red Rear Lights are compulsory. This year, no rear light, no ride.
