Our History

The Club was born in 1986 following the successful running of the first Sevenoaks Triathlon in 1985. The Club was originally known as Tri7 and was run by Robin Marchant and former elite triathlete, Rob Searle. The Club attracted new members from the local surrounding areas and enjoyed success at local events.

In 1996, the Club changed its name to Asics Multisport to reflect the connection to a local triathlon store based in Tunbridge Wells (Multisport) and sponsorship by Asics. Some of the local athletes enjoyed a sponsorship deal with Asics and the Club was also able to attract national elite athletes to race for the team. During the next six seasons the Club picked up awards at the National Age Group Championships, were six time champions at the South East Regional Relays and medalled at the National Relays. Many members also represented their country at world championships and two (then) local boys also picked up their GB elite caps (Martin Foster and Dave Castle).

At the end of 2001, the Club went through another change and established a relationship with Newline, Team Newline Triathletes (or TNT!) was born. However, local athletes were having difficulties finding us and a decision was taken to re-name the Club Sevenoaks Triathlon Club (no prizes for imagination!).

Today the Club continues to enjoy local and national success and has many members of all standards - from novice sprint triathletes to seasoned ironman competitors. We pride ourselves on being easy to approach (we understand your first training session with a bunch of strangers can be quite daunting!) and involving everyone!

All at the Club are expected to adopt the Club's core values whilst active as a Club member, whether this be taking part in triathlon events & representing the Club, training or even socializing, these are:

ENJOYMENT, TRANSPARENCY & EQUALITY.

We aim to enjoy what we do, communicate to all so that every member can see what is happening and treat everyone the same no matter what their ability or background.

For details of Club training sessions & locations see the Training Summary page.

We look forward to seeing you.
