NOKIA THAMES SWIM – 1st August 2010 E-mail
Danni Pryor was racing to win over 2.25 miles of the River Thames - Report and pics

This was the first ever Nokia Thames swim from Hampton Court to Kingston-upon-Thames.

1200 swimmers took part in this a 2.25 mile river swim down stream to Kingston bridge. Olympic silver medallist open water swimmer Kerri-Anne Payne was on hand to give some advice and also took to water her self in a lower wave.

The first elite wave contained some top performers such as Richard Stannard and Michael Adams so this was going to be a tough ask for Danni to stay in contact with the leading bunch.

The start was frantic and Danni wasn’t able to get away as fast as she wanted as some one literary clawed her back - nail indentations to prove it. Good job she was wearing a wetsuit on this occasion. However she recovered to break away with four guys and finished just 1 minute 42 seconds behind Richard Stannard in a fantastic 4th overall and the first Women.

Results ;

1st Michael Adams – 42.43
2nd Richard Stannard – 43.52
3rd Guy Giles – 45.11
4th Danni Pryor – 45.34 ( 1st Women )
6th Kerri Anne Payne – 47.50

This was a great event which was well sponsored by Nokia, Human race and Speedo.
It was sold out in three weeks so next year make sure your on start line.
