New Club Coach Appointment E-mail

As part of the ongoing development of your club the committee have decided that it would be a valuable additional member service to create the position of club coach.

The club coach would be responsible for developing and operating regular cycling and running sessions as well as helping the swim coach out at swim sessions if required. In addition s/he would be responsible to develop other ad hoc tri specific sessions e.g. transition training. Whilst we would not envisage the club coach providing 1-2-1 training we would also hope that some generic training schedules could be created to give your triathlon year more structure.

Given that this will require proper qualifications; insurance and regular commitment this will be a part-time paid role.

We have already identified one strong candidate but in the interests of transparency we will consider other applications from members. The minimum qualification standards are as follows:

BTF level 2 or above with experience in competing in triathlon

ASA level 1 swim coach

National Rescue Award for teaching swimming or similar

CRB

The club coach's duties will include:

- Running regular bike turbo sessions during the winter and track sessions during the spring. Consideration depending on demand also to be given to regular running or conditioning sessions one other night of the week

- Running ad hoc sessions as requested by the committee and based on member demand on tri related topics e.g. transition, bike set up, bike handling, training plans

- Liaising with the swim coach and provide cover and assistance when required

- In conjunction with the swim coach providing a generic seasonal training structure for members targeting key events

- Putting together a library of recommended routes for Saturday and Sunday club rides depending on the time of year and weather conditions. Arrange a regular (monthly) beginners rides subject to demand

-Taking a major role in assisting with club run competitions in particular the club triathlon and TTs

-Reporting to the committee including attendance at committee meetings on coaching related matters

- Remuneration will depend on the number of formal training sessions undertaken (both regular and ad hoc) and a retainer to cover additional administration.

We would hope the successful applicant will be in place by end of October. If you are interested please submit your CV to  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
