Running in Knole Park Tuesday Evenings E-mail
If you haven't been along yet, try and and be at the bottom of Webb's Alley by 7pm at the latest to join the group.
Led by the ever enthusiastic Dave Willumsen, the number attending has grown considerably, 15 last week, 12 last night and the majority are ladies. Not surprising I suppose bearing in mind whose in charge! The session caters for all abilities so don't worry if you think you'll be too slow. The harder work typically consists of pyramids, fartlek, short and longer intervals on the softer ground which is easier on the joints. No one gets left behind as everyone regroups after each effort and the same circuit is used so you won't get lost. The sets that Dave is using are all geared towards the run leg of the Southwater Realys in September so hard effort in total will be between 15 and 20 minutes at the most with plenty of recovery in between. Last night's session consisted of a tempo run around the perimeter of Knole House (about 3/4 mile), a faster paced run on a handicap basis and finally a lap split up into 3 intervals with a decent recovery between each. Everyone enjoyed themselves in a perfect setting so if you're in a team for Southwater come along next Tuesday and build up a bit of speed for the run. Don't forget that the Thursday evening Time Trials are also ideal preparation for Southwater.
